Located on a rural property, this private wellness center is imagined as a glowing sculptural ribbon folding through a curated garden, peeling away to reveal what lies within.
The client sought a space that did not look like a gym or an outhouse, but an integrated architectural and sculptural piece to sit comfortably in the landscape. In a location surrounded by panoramic hinterland views, the center looks inward to create a quiet, serene space for training, stretching, and meditation.
Unashamedly present, the outer-most transparent wall constructed of u-channel glass creates a sculptural Serra-like veil around the building. As a counterpoint to the delicacy of the glass veil, the inner building is constructed of robust textural materials, akin to the grottos of 18 century English Landscaped gardens.
A hollowed space is punctuated by curated openings, allowing a soft dappled light to spill into the central spaces. Shadows dance across the defused glass canvas, bringing a soft movement in.
Due to commence construction in 2024.
